June gloom.
I catalog regrets on
pages of my heart.

4/27/14

In my mouth the taste
is bitter. Searching my heart,
I found self-pity.

Sparrow

Sparrow, how hard does
your heart flutter when you fend
off a thieving hawk?

Diana

Soft heart and fur, quiet,
unruffled gentleness, but

A Few Haiku

Sun presses its face
against gray clouds-- afternoons
this May are so cold.

------------

Clouds of varied shades
of blue and white -- towering
puffs! They seem like God.

----------

Outlines of palm trees
warm gray in the Spring blue sky--
a white gull passes.

----------

Cheerful round finch hops
here and there, nestling in dirt,
flying up to sky.

----------

In my mouth the taste
is bitter. Searching my heart,
I found self-pity.

All Written in May

Behind my eyes, hot
tears readily prick, then run,
trailing lines of salt.

----------------

Summer’s confusion:
Rosemary bushes reach for sun,
finding only sky.

----------------

Especially for Ash

Awake or asleep,
cats express disdain too well—
or is it ennui?

----------------

Peace eludes me.
My heart is too heavy for this
wintery summer.

Anodyne

There are no tinctures,
no curatives, for the hurt
heart but Giving Love.

Part I

I fear the love in
my heart is finite. After
all, I'm not a saint.
