A fly buzzes
around and around my head.
Maybe he’s lonely.

9/1/14

Summer's end?  Not here:
black and white birds fly past
parched grass to a green tree.

8/31/14

Brown trees-- no water
to sustain them, nor the birds
lighting on their branches.

8/20/14

Dreary skies shine gray.
Muggy air presses down, but a
brown dove soars up, up.

5/27/14

Soaring in hot wind,
a vulture gracefully flies,
looking for corpses.

Though

it rains hard and feels
like Winter, a ladybug
flies past my window.

A Few Haiku

Sun presses its face
against gray clouds-- afternoons
this May are so cold.

------------

Clouds of varied shades
of blue and white -- towering
puffs! They seem like God.

----------

Outlines of palm trees
warm gray in the Spring blue sky--
a white gull passes.

----------

Cheerful round finch hops
here and there, nestling in dirt,
flying up to sky.

----------

In my mouth the taste
is bitter. Searching my heart,
I found self-pity.

Pyracanthus

Birds land onto twigs
dotted with crimson berries
to nest, feast, and fly.
