Don’t tug / Summer heat / To fill a pie / Hopeful

Don’t tug!
Like everything else,
blackberries
come off their vines easily
when they are ready.

—-

Summer heat—
Dandelions stare at the sun
unharmed.

—-

To fill a pie, use
both ripe and unripe berries.
As in the world,
sweet and sour are needed
for the desired taste.

I’m not happy with this one. It needs work. Too didactic & not natural.
—

Hopeful,
a bee hovers over
a glass of lemonade.

From Last Night

At dusk,
birdsong and warm wind--
and the smell of tacos.

In the stifling room,
voices talk of freedom,
hope, love... And the heat.

Evergreen trees
shake gently in the breeze,
swaying to birdsong.

Retweets

An online friend & fellow Haiku writer found my Twitter account today and retweeted a couple of my Haiku.  Shashi, you might never know how happy that made me.  It's always neat to have what you write appreciated by someone whose work you admire.

And just in case you're curious, here're my tweets!

Feb 6:
I slog through another day of quicksand. How many more?
Feb 6:
I'm sickly, People. And "Hot Tub Time Machine 2" won't help me forget.

Believe me,

I know my poems
aren’t that good.
I comfort myself by hoping this means
that they won’t be quoted
on pillows or needlepoint.

5/14/14

My hands tent the moth—
soft white wings flutter—
I release it with hope.

In Santa Clara

I hope that possums
and raccoons eat the ripe plums
that fall from your trees.

You are my braird:
new, leafy green reaching for
blue skies, full of hope.
