Dark,

& the sound of crickets

One of my haiku has been featured on the Poetry Pea Podcast for 9/3/18. I'm so honored! When you look at the folks' works featured, it is really something to be in such company.

Just in case you don't want to listen, here it is.

Cool night air,the sound of crickets -- and snoring.

And even further back!

Brown sand in my socks
and shoes.
Worth it.

Blood red sun
skies made of smoke and loss—
I can’t breathe.

--------

Finally nighttime!
Noisy fans cease to the
sound of crickets.

---------- Accidentally
disturbed a tiny spider.
Now avoiding it

Sorta Kinda Tanka

Bleary and dull,

moving through life half asleep.

And yet, there are cats

and the sound of rain on a roof

and the smell of fresh apples.

Rushing in, she smells
of Earl Grey tea and cool night air.
Then, sounds of crickets.
