I don't know about joy, but
fresh air,
green hills with yellow poppies,
turkeys milling by the creek --
I must be close.

No
is a complete sentence, yet I
explain and explain

Hearing thunder,
waiting for rain
under blankets.

Not written today

The tide is in.
The sun in literal rays.
Seagulls dot the blue.

Not Haiku

Birds & squirrels fend,
lizards too,
all of them, tails abuzz
with industry.

I watch them out my window,
tummy full,
feet in organic socks,
breathing in clean air,
upset that, so often,
life goes on without me.
