Falling Down on the Job: August Daily Blog Challenge Posts 5-8
Day 5, Monday. A "something you wish you did really well" haiku.
Glittery strippers
cajole Bills of both kinds with
fascinating skill.
Day 6, Tuesday. "A favourite quote and why it’s special" haiku.
You can't save your face
and your ass at the same time--
though I've often tried.
Day 7, Wednesday. Five songs that bring back memories.
I remind a couple of my guy friends of "Little Dreamer" by Van Halen. One of them is gone now, & he would quote it to me even just before he died. Back in the day, he'd sing it to me.
"A Boy Named Sue" was my favorite song as a kid. I still like it a lot.
"Mr. Crowley" still gives me chills & I can't help but raise my hands up in the air, sort of like that picture of Ozzy that used to be featured on that album. I don't have anything with fringes on the sleeves these days, though, which is a pity.
"I Drink" by my one of my favorite bands ever, L7, continues to make me happy & reminds me of what I'd be like if I drank Black Russians. Another favorite from the same album: "Uncle Bob." I was so inspired by L7 that only my deep lack of self-worth stopped me from learning music & starting a band of my own. But I still have the music & the memories of seeing them in concert as often as I could (but my t-shirt is long gone home to dead t-shirt heaven).
Day 8, Thursday. A "guilty pleasure" haiku.
O, Shore of Jersey,
with your laundry and tans and
gyms-- how I love you!
